Geopolitics Newsletters
A summary of free newsletters with great geopolitics content
Geopolitics newsletters are a great addition to any analyst’s source pool. More often than not they are written by subject matter experts and include far more nuance, detail, and insight than standard news reports.
In this post I will cover a variety of high-quality geopolitics newsletters, from long-reads to summaries, purely fact-based updates to think pieces, and regional deep-dives to global round-ups. Most importantly, I’ll include a subscription link to each one so you can sign up to any you like the look of.
N.B. If you produce a geopolitics newsletter that isn’t included in here, get in touch and I’ll add yours to the list.
The OSINTSUM
Global Situation Update.
The OSINTSUM is our own concise and comprehensive summary of geopolitically-significant events from across the world. It is designed to quickly bring the reader up to speed on what is going on in a short space of time.
The reports are generally kept to a maximum of three sentences covering the 5 W’s about the event in question - who, what, when, where, and why, and sometimes include a couple of extra lines of analyst comment to provide context or analysis.
Each report also includes a link to the source article so you can easily conduct further reading if you want to find out more about a particular event or incident.
You can subscribe to the OSINTSUM by entering your email into the form on this website or at the geopoliticsnewsletter.com landing page.
Geopolitical Dispatch
Global Intelligence. For Business
Geopolitical Dispatch is a daily newsletter written by an accomplished team of experienced former diplomats, foreign correspondents and industry experts in three time zones.
Geopolitical Dispatch’s Daily Assessment, which is based on the US President’s Daily Brief and similar products, gives asset managers, boardrooms and executives timely and concise analysis of the issues that matter. With the brevity of a media digest, but the depth of an intelligence assessment, Daily Assessment is emailed each weekday at 5am US Eastern (9am GMT).
Written in a succinct, often wry, tone, Geopolitical Dispatch is a pleasure to read. Each edition also has a beautiful banner with an art masterpiece that speaks to the meaning of the lead story. Geopolitical Dispatch also publishes a Saturday essay on a hot topic in geopolitics that allows readers to dive even deeper.
You can subscribe to Geopolitical Dispatch at geopoliticaldispatch.com.
Conflict Watch
A nuanced and impartial guide to recent global conflicts and geopolitical flashpoints.
Conflict Watch is a nuanced and impartial guide to recent global conflicts and geopolitical flashpoints.
Many of the headlines involving conflict currently revolve around the colossus that is the Russo-Ukraine war. However, for businesses operating in other conflict zones/geopolitical flashpoint areas there is often little to no information provided for current or future events that may interrupt business operations.
Conflict watch aims to provide this boutique information, raising a light upon lesser covered conflict zones whilst still maintaining a complete and prudent understanding of the larger more publicised conflicts.
It covers regions from MENA to South-East Asia, as ever growing global markets force companies to begin to analyse the risks of operating in different countries.
If you'd like to learn more about Conflict Watch or request boutique information as a client, contact author Alex Vile on LinkedIn or by email at [email protected]

Geopolitics and Gin
Articles about geopolitics, security, red teaming, and intelligence along with the occasional Epicurean delight.
Geopolitics and Gin is a weekly newsletter that focuses on improving analytic capabilities for geopolitical risk and security analysis along with the occasional Epicurean delight.
Topics range from great power politics to applied critical thinking to fictional intelligence to learning lessons from historical figures. The newsletter gets its name from the role the gin and tonic played in the British Empire as an effective mechanism for consuming quinine to prevent malaria, allowing troops to fight more effectively in South Asia.
The idea is that analysts must observe those seemingly minor variables (a cocktail) to understand cause and consequence in geopolitics. They cannot just focus on the larger variables like government decisions, warfare, or diplomacy.
In addition, once a month the newsletter details a cocktail recipe so readers can enjoy a new drink while reading. To subscribe, visit the Geopolitics and Gin LinkedIn page.
The Signal Weekly outlines five of the key country risk issues in Africa the team at Signal Risk is looking at for the week.
It also includes a free-to-read analysis briefing on a topical issue - and links to other complimentary offerings from their information service.
